The tools are down. The Block is open for inspiration. Now, all eyes turn to auction day. As this season wraps up in Mount Eliza, we’re revisiting some of our favourite Freedom moments and the team’s individual takes on coastal luxury. From restful bedrooms to expansive living spaces and outdoor retreats, the homes paired relaxed coastal style with bold choices, generous proportions and a little extra indulgence. There’s plenty to take home from this year’s reveals.
The living and rumpus reveal featured some of the largest spaces in The Block’s history, making zoning and proportions a challenge even for the seasoned stylists of the show. Adam & Jolene made the most of their city views, while Chantel & Wyatt controversial turned their seating away from their million-dollar outlook. Freedom stylist Kirsty Knight backed the judges’ feedback: flip the layout and let the view take its place in the room.
From living and dining to the rumpus reveals, comfort was king. The teams took different approaches, from the light, relaxed feel of Courtney & Sev’s winning rumpus featuring the Sorrento sofa to the richer caramel shades that suited Lisa & Rosco’s moodier aesthetic. Generous sofas helped define the zones, showing that big rooms need more than big furniture. Scale, placement and styling all had a part to play.
The sofas of the season also starred in store when the competition followed the contestants to Freedom Nunawading. Shelley Craft, Freedom ambassadors Matty J and Laura Byrne, and myFreedom members put the teams’ sofa styling choices to the test, with Lisa taking out the win.
The scale of this year’s homes didn’t stop at the back door. Expansive yards, decks and pools gave the teams another big challenge: turning all that space into outdoor areas people would want to spend time in. With the Mount Eliza lifestyle as inspiration, they created places for everything from a quiet morning coffee to a backyard full of friends.
Impressive outdoor kitchens anchored the entertaining areas, while Freedom outdoor dining settings and poolside seating helped define places to eat, gather and unwind. Together, these zones made the backyards feel like a natural extension of the homes, bringing coastal luxury into the open air.
The teams set the bar early with guest bedrooms that could make a weekend visit turn into an extended stay. Upholstered beds were a shared favourite, bringing a rich, cozy feel to rooms with distinctly different personalities. Layered bedding, soft textures and thoughtfully chosen artwork made these spaces feel welcomed from the first reveal.
That comfort carried through to the main bedrooms, where the teams had room to create their dream retreats. Soft pinks, warm timber and calming neutrals gave each space its own mood, with the upholstered beds adding softness and a generous dose of luxury. Freedom Wardrobes extended each team’s style into the walk-ins, pairing beautiful finishes with the practical storage these expansive homes called for. From waking up slowly to getting ready for the day, these rooms made every day routines feel a little more indulgent.
Five homes, five takes on coastal luxury and plenty of inspiration to make your own. As auction day approaches, explore the Freedom pieces that helped bring this season’s rooms to life.
